DFW-Nihongo
A Japanese Language Learning Program
Japanese Language Classes
Our comprehensive approach to language learning allows students to experience solid rewarding progress at an enjoyable pace.
Reading
You’re coming here to learn Japanese reading, right? So the above might not look like anything comprehensible yet.
By the time you’re done with the DFW-Nihongo program, you’ll know how to decipher it.
You’ll be able to identify the different types of characters used in Japanese writing and will have a study plan to master all of them.
You’ll feel confident navigating the wild world of Japanese writing systems, and may even start to appreciate the unique chaos.
Writing
Learning to write Japanese, will help you reach your goal of Japanese fluency. Make no mistake, it will take a lot of effort and hard work. You will be learning something new. We will strive to help you learn the correct way. You will learn hiragana, then learn katakana and finally learn kanji.
It is important to remember that the stroke order and direction of the strokes matter. The best way to learn how to write is to follow examples and practice. In this program you can expect coaching, exercises and useful feedback.
Listening
Hearing is not listening. Active listening involves complex cognitive processes. Listening is one of the four key components of language learning, recognizing patterns of sounds (words) and interpreting sequences of the patterns (sentences).
Through personal interaction with native speaking teachers and other students, and reinforced by practice and repetition, students build confidence and understanding.
In addition to years of experience, thousands of hours of interaction, we rely on proven methods, tools and techniques. Students will recognize familiar poems, haiku, song lyrics, idioms and proverbs.
Speaking
The most rewarding result of language learning is the ability to speak Japanese and be understood.
You will learn to 'break the ice', to introduce yourself and engage in conversation with Japanese friends and coworkers, ask questions of Japanese customers and get directions while traveling in Japan.
Teachers lead conversation exercises and encourage dialog between students.
Speaking within the classroom comfort zone is fun and productive. DFW-Nihongo classrooms are filled with blushes, smiles and laughter.
